About the Market

This year we were proud to offer EBT and Gift Certificates at the market tent. Students from Key Learning Center helped with the market to raise money for their annual service trip to Costa Rica.

The Seniors at Key Learning Community work all year to raise funds to go for a class project in the Spring. Our interns are working to help pay for their trip to a Central American country where they can practice their Spanish skills while they go to do service. Past groups have served in orphanages or with other children’s facilities. They take things that they have made to give to the students.

The students are required to earn at least half of the cost for their trip. The three interns selected to work in the heat with the market this year will earn a donation for their share through sponsorship by local businesses.

This experience of traveling to a third world country helps them to get a broader perspective on their world and gain skills that they can share with their communities.

Vanessa began her Senior year August 8th. She enjoys dance. She looks forward to working as an apprentice to a physical therapist as part of her curriculum this year. She was in the market tent where she ran the electronic transactions.

Tomas is interested in animation and graphics and is looking forward to his apprenticeship and his Senior year this year. Tomas helped vendors to set up tents, set up the recycling and compost containers and the market signs.

Aaron also likes computer design and is a hard worker with a friendly, happy can-do attitude that he applied at the market with jumping in to whatever needed doing and taking charge of his duties with a smile.

Tuesday 4-7 pm May through September, the market is on South Meridian at McCarty across from Shapiro’s Downtown Delicatessen, just South of Healing Arts Indy.

This Artisan/Farmers Market brings local, fresh, good food to the workers and residents of Downtown Indianapolis.
